Pontura

Who you are hiring.

A small company that writes software for roofing contractors, and is honest about how far along it is.

You will be dealing with the person who writes the code. Not an account manager who relays it to somebody else, and not a queue.

That is worth saying plainly because it is the part that does not scale, and it is the part you are buying. A bigger vendor can outspend this on features. None of them can put you on the phone with the person who wrote the screen you are complaining about.

01  /  The name

Why Pontura

From ponte, Portuguese for bridge. The name was chosen before the argument on the front page was written, and then the two turned out to be the same idea: a bridge is what you build across a gap, and the gaps between your tools are exactly where the work falls through.

You are already paying somebody's wage to be the bridge. The job is to build one that does not need a wage.

02  /  Being early

What early actually means

It means you will get more attention than you would from an established vendor, and less proof. Both of those are real, and which one matters more depends on the company you run.

What it does not mean is that you are carrying the risk on your own. Your data is yours from the first day, exportable in a format you can use, including the day you decide to leave. If this does not work out, you leave with everything you put in.
